If you ask me my guess is that piracy is probably on average a net even. So how much are they really losing? Can't squeeze blood from a turnip, but in the gaming world apparently they think they can. But of course that Ubisoft guy would count that as a lost sale. So some people in this situation pirate es that it works.and then buys the game. The little secret about PC games is that sometimes games DO run if you are under the specs. Some people pirate a game because they want to know if it can run on their PC. Hell even in this thread you have people claiming they felt guilty and bought games they pirated.

So where does piracy fit if 1 stolen game turned into ten sales? They'll steal the first game and then buy the next 10 because they loved the first one. So even if the number was 99 percent and real, how does that translate into actual sales lost? Who knows exactly how much, but most people who download games, were never going to buy it anyways.

It's actually probably far closer to 0 percent. The leap from one to the other is 100 percent according to guys like this. Even then there's a difference between someone downloading a game because they can versus someone who downloaded a game because they can and now won't buy the game.
